I dont know anyone who does it for free but www.fractix.co.uk are stupidly cheap for hosting.

Why does shared web hosting offer unlimited bandwidth but dedicated servers or VPS hosting does not?
Just curious why you don’t get unlimited data transfer if you’re paying A LOT more for a dedicated server or virtual private server.
shared hosting providers usually have their servers on an unmetered line, which will be shared among their many clients. You could get an unmetered line for your dedicated/VPS, but it would cost you a real lot.
I have a shared hosting account and I would like to see what other sites are on that server. I know there is a website like that, I’ve seen it before on Digg, but I cant find it. If anyone knows of that site I’m talking about, that would be great!!!!

I live in the US and was wondering if it was illegal to startup and run a torrent website like thepiratebay where illegal stuff might find its way. I know that the site doesnt technically host the files, but isnt that like aiding and abiding? If the servers were hosted in another country would it be ok then?
A torrent site or using torrents is not illegal at all. Only the content should be legal, and thepiratebay’s contents were not really legal. You can host a torrent site, and you won’t have any problems untill some nutter comes up and shares windows 7 with a crack on it.
Most hosting companies don’t allow you to run a torrent site on their servers. torrents usually take up a lot of connections, and tend to utilize a lot of bandwidth in the network. So if you seed a torrent to about a thousand people, the networks would really be slowed down, and it would be difficult for anyone to access anything on their datacenter.
A company called XLhost.com had to shut down for a few days thanks to a torrent site hosted on one tiny celeron server in their datacenter. And that taught all other major players a lesson, and I can’t think of 1 datacenter in the US that allows a torrent site to run on their servers.
I’m hosting a website for a registered charity and I’m a little confused on the rules.
Services are not tax deductible, but any additional costs that may occur ARE tax deductible.
This charity is using space and abandwidth on the server that I pay for. I havent charged them a dime because I have a few personal things on the server as well and the server is large enough to host multiple websites.

Not tax deductible unless you can identify specific out of pocket expenses that you paid in order to provide the service. You are donating the use of personal property.
Seems analogous to a person hosting an event at their house for the charity. The host could deduct the cost of food served, hired help, etc., but could not deduct the rental value of the home for the event, even though the host could have rented out the home for a day event for money.
