I have microsoft sql server 2005, sql 2008 express, and Microsoft Visual web developer 2008 express. What are the exact steps to making my server at home and publishing my first webpage(i dont want to pay to have someone host, and yes i know its better) i thougt microsoft web platform would let me host. hmmmm

1. First you need a static ip for your router or you need to configure DynamicDns settings from your router.
2. For free dns records register with www.everydns.net and choose a website name, create a Forward lookup for you Domain name that is mapped to your IP.
3. make sure that you websever is running.
4. from you router forward port 80 to your local machine where your webserver is hosted.
5. make sure that your firewall is not blocking port 80
thats it you are done.
I’m trying to create a onepage document for our business on how to install and set up the newest, 2.51 version of Wordpress with your own domain where your host uses cPanel and Fantastiko. Wordpress’s own documentation is too complex, so please don’t just copy and paste that. 10 points to the first person to explain this in your own concise words.
well i will tell you simple way.. So install manually ok… because i always install manually…..so i will tell u step by step. ok
1-download wordpress latest version from this link http://wordpress.org/download/
2-Extract all files and upload to your website.
3- Now make database from your cpanel and add user also, make sure when you add user give all privileges.
4- Now come back to to the files of wordpress. there is a file wp-config-sample.php open this file and change text there. means you have to enter database name and username and password. but there is line of prefix, juts leave it as same. now save the file.
5- rename the file wp-config-sample.php to wp-config and delete the old file from ur hosting space. and upload that one wp-config.php
5- now installing program do like this http://www.yourdomain.com/wp-admin/install.php
6- enter specific email and pass.
now your wordpresss is install.. hope this is helpful to u…..

Simply put – no. Unless you get a very high powered VPS (i.e. expensive) then no; your best bet for a small webhost would be a reseller account with a host on a dedi 
How do I automate tasks, e.g. backup, if my shared hosting company does not allow cron jobs?

I am only going on what i have heard via forums and people i know who have hosting with them but Innohosting seems to be a very reliable host as are InMotion Hosting who were highly rated by CNET i believe.

what is a file hosting site that is free that doesn’t have an upload limit or whatever and the files wont delete after ninety days or 30? and if there is one where i can upload multiple files at once for different links. anyone know. i am just uploading zip files of my beat albums onto my website there about 18 megs.

You can use a cjb.net domain. They allow you to set nameservers. Then your address will be http://www.yoursite.cjb.net/ . You can set the nameserver by logging in to your account. They only allow you to set one nameserver. For example, ns1.electedhosting.com . And you can get free hosting at http://addyour.net or http://www.byethost.com .
