Please can someone explain the diff between MY SQL and MSSQL apart from being made by 2 different companies.
How much would they cost (about) to install both on a web hosting server?

SQL and MYSQL are inherenently different in how they operate in the back office.

Data structures are also different in how many data types (chr, bool, int, float, etc) it handles.

ASP, coldfusion, etc, will connect to either using a ODBC connection. If you are dead set on using SQL, Microsoft has a free SQL server called SQL express you might want to look into.

I am experiencing extremely slow performance on my company’s reporting server with only one report. There are currently about 30 reports hosted on the server, the vast majority of which will load within a few seconds after having being selected; however, one report on average takes about 5
minutes to load. Previously, when first added to the server several months ago, the report performed just fine, but in recent weeks the load time has signifcantly degraded.

Have a look at the data that your report is selecting from your server.

It could be that it’s doing a massive join which performed OK with only 10 rows, but now it’s dealing with 100 rows has grown exponentially.

I’m assuming you’re not running this report at a different time of day where the load on the server is different from the other reports running, and that there are no contention issues – have you checked locks?

I’d say it must be a programming issue with the report -have you checked CPU usage on the box, is there enough ram to generate the report or is the server swapping? Have a look at the data though, and the number of rows returned – if possible separate the SQL from the report and run that via a console, does it still take as long?

Sorry about the bad quality.

Hi, I’m looking for a web hosting who can support
SQL Reporting Service 2008, I’ve found some information on the page

http://www.webhost4lifereview.com/sql-server-2008-web-hosting/

Any else?

Regards

Well , there is hostgator , google host yahoo and godaddy.
But the most recommended and best web host so far is NetworkJuiceHosting.com ; Network Juice.

They now offer plans starting around $0.99/mo for a great amount of diskspace plus everything else unlimited. Plus they’ve manage to keep up 99% Uptime.

They have all features such as PHP5, java ,Cpanel , Fantastico ( allows you to auto install Blogging systems and CMS portals without wasting time) , Cron Job , Apache ,Unlimited Dadabase , ftp accounts and much more. Basically EVERYTHING! is supported.

There are other affordable plans as well in NetworkJuiceHosting

Hostgator is also a great host , but there Uptime time is not so good. Also , customer service is very poor , Not to many features are supported.

Google not so sure , But i know there’s lots of files they do not support , no Cpanel , and i don’t know how come , but they have been receiving downtimes lately in their host servers.

yahoo , let me just say it’s the worst web host ever ,you can’t even host the amount of domains you want to host . Including FatCow. The downtime is way to much , and many files are un-compatible in fatcow for some reason.

To buy a domain , the most recommended site is godaddy , but not for it’s hosting!! I Tell you !!!.

For a Great Affordable web host with maximum features , the most recommended web host is NetworkJuiceHosting.com .

You are getting your answers from an expert , and yes I have tried all these web host.

That’s all I got to say mate ;)

No, they offer *nix-only Web hosting.

For what you’re after, I use a company called WebHost4Life and am very happy with them:

http://www.webhost4life.com

I want to be able to access my SQL Server on my computer from another computer on the network.

Both computers have SQL Server installed now I just need to know how to configure the Host system and what ports I need to open on the firewall for example.

Thanks.

To access from computer A to computer B, you can register/Connect B on A. default port 1433.

SQL Server 2000: on Computer A, open Enterprise Manger, right click SQL server group–>New SQL server registration.. follow the instruction.. SQL 2005 SQL Server Mangement Studio, just connect computer B directly or register…

If you want to join database tables between computer A and computer B, your best answer is to create linked server. on SQL 2000: security->linked server–>new linked server; on SQL2005: server objects–>linked server… From any database in computer A, You can refer or join tables on computer B as linkedserverB.dbname.dbo.tablename

Increase Revenues by Offering Security as a Service
By offering Web application security to their customers, hosting providers can earn additional revenue while significantly reducing their complaint handling and abuse recovery efforts.

With the dotDefender Web application security solution, shared and dedicated hosting providers can protect their customers’ websites from many types of application-based attacks, such as SQL injection, cross-site scripting, path traversal, and defacement. By installing dotDefender, hosting providers can offer Web application security as a service to their hosted sites, increasing revenues with minimal investment.

Any1 is using a Hosting Services for ASP.NET ? Please help!

Thank you! :)

There are a lot of sites out there. If you are looking for Free Hosting, good luck. But for cheap solutions, I’ve heard good things about http://www.DiscountASP.NET . They are recommended by Microsoft.

Here are some others that are supposed to be pretty good:
http://www.aspwebhosting.com
http://www.m6.net
http://www.activehost.com

Also, I’ve heard GoDaddy is possibly going to be taking up ASP.NET hosting soon (Don’t quote me on this, but that’s just what I heard, so you might check into that.)

Good Luck!
